I have no PMV assembly under the airbox. I have a diagnosed bad wheel speed sensor in the front that sets the ABS light, but I have never seen a Traction light ever.

Freaky. Well, if you have a WSS error anyway, you're good. ELC and tires should net you a good 2.2 sixty foot or so.

I'm back, and a little disappointed. My best time was 15.599 at 87.14 mph. It was about my worst launch of the night, however, 2.303 60. My best launch was my very first run, at 2.225 60 and a 15.604 et, 87.64 mph. I was hoping for like a 15.2 or something close.

I was messing with changing shift modes, the AFC and tire pressure between my four runs. It was pretty muggy and hot.

I dunno, DrJay, when can I get some springs?!?!?!?

Those sound like decent runs for a Series 1. You'll definitely be able to improve your launches though.

Did you happen to see a '95 Thunderbird with a fading paint job make a couple runs tonight? That was Doug (MyLittleBlackBird), who's a great friend of mine and basically my walking encyclopedia for automotive issues. He was with me, Nate, and Travis at the Mayhem drags last week.

You have something majorly wrong........running a 94 SC and TB on that motor, you should have been High 14's at least. Especially if your track temps were below 135 degrees.

Did you have the scantool running at the same time? Are you running lean? Getting KR, or pulling timing?

J Wikoff 09-10-2005 08:25 PM

Unfortunatly, I forgot the power cable to the scan tool at home. I did watch my A/F gauge, and 109 setting seemed to be the best results. When I bumped it up to 113, I almost hit 16 seconds (including hitting the rev limiter in first before it would shift, the only time I left it in perform shift before second gear) and 2.323 60.

I think I remember a t-bird or two, what color, black?

big_news_1 09-11-2005 12:23 AM

Yeah, black T-Bird.... but I'm hijacking.

Keep on this problem, and get it figured out. That car can run faster!

J Wikoff 09-11-2005 03:47 PM

Bill, wanna fly out here and help diagnose?

It does feel a little restrained, but not unhealthy except when I can feel a lot of timing being pulled if its hot. I didn't feel it that night. Sometimes I think it's missing at idle. Plugs are a year old. Scantool shows Lean/Rich alternating most times except during accelerating it shows rich.

I did consistantly beat my friend's SRT-4 60 foot times, which made me happy.

J Wikoff 09-12-2005 10:52 AM

Things I could see slowing me down:
17" wheels
Current state of tranny (shudder, occasional funny shift)
Fuel curve?

willwren 09-12-2005 11:13 AM

I'd buy all 3. The 17's might be getting you for a half or a whole tenth, the trans can be hurting you even more. Your car should be able to do 2.2 60's, and you hit a 2.3 best? That's 2 tenths right there off the 1/4. And it very well could be partly due to the rotating mass.

Too rich is just as bad as too lean for performance and efficiency, but too lean is far more dangerous.

What you really need is a realtime scan/log while doing a run.
