Depending on where you live make sure its legal. In Ontario we have Drive Clean testing every 2 years. You also have to pass emissions testing to get your license renewed.
If your state or province has no such laws then go for it.

I don't know what the Canooks would do to you if you removed it.
But aside from that, there are many on this board, and the Grand Prix board that would say removing the cat would open up the exhaust too much and you would lose low end torque. It might not be a concern tho on the supercharged engines like yours.

It may seem like a dumb question, but, I'm not clear on this.
The way you put it, it sounds like you can't get your driver'* license renewed unless you pass emissions testing.
If you don't own a car...does that mean you can't have a driver'* license? OR...?
Hey, Canada IS known for some strange laws!
On our plates we have a sticker that has the month of your birth and the year that the sticker expires. Most just buy for 1 year but I bought for 2. I was told that at the end of 2 years (May 04) I have to go get my license renewed and I'll have to get a new sticker. The Minstry of Transportation sends out a notice after 2 years for Drive Clean Emissions testing.
If you do not succesfully pass Emissions testing, when it comes time to renew the license, the gov't will ask to see your Drive Clean approval. If you don't have a passing Drive Clean...then no renewal At least that is my understanding and experience. Any other Ontario people wanna holler here?
