Getting SSEi & GTP dynoed Saturday. Guess dyno numbers.
On Saturday, unless something comes up, we are getting the SSEi & GTP dynoed at the MIGPC Dyno Day. Just for the hell of it, I figured I would post and have everyone guess hp & torque numbers for them. I'm not going to be giving any prizes or anything, just thought it would be fun.

Good luck Shawn, let us know the results on the 2 monster Pontiacs that invade your driveway 8)

SSEi = 310hp, 330 tq. GTP = 340hp, 375 tq. Heheh...Prolly way off... :oops: |
I'll take a piece of that action...+/- 10 hp/tq either way :D
|
All my numbers are at the flywheel, so uh, some calculations might have to be done :wink:
Bonneville: 290hp, 310lb-ft Grand Prix: The sky's the limit :P |
Ya...I was talkin crank not what gets down to the tires 8)
|
:shock: looks at sig :shock:
Not even going to try... |
As I do not know what calculations you guys could possibly be using (lack of knowledge), I will agree to disagree. :D :D

Since they are going to be dynoed at the wheels it would be much easier for me to see who's closest if you could give wheel guesses & say they are at the wheels, or give crank guesses and say they are at the crank. For the crank guesses I am going to just multiply the amount by .8, which should account for the approximate 20% loss the trannies have. If you could do that yourself it would be helpful.
So as of right now the guesses are: TrueWildMan: SSEi = 310hp, 330 tq. (248whp, 264wtq.) GTP = 340hp, 375 tq. (272whp, 300wtq.) 89BonnieSE89: SSEi: (248whp, 264wtq.) +/- 10% GTP: (272whp, 300wtq.) +/- 10% repinS: Bonneville: 290hp, 310lb-ft (232whp, 248wtq.) Grand Prix: The sky's the limit (kinda hard to convert that) Still hoping for some more guesses. I would put out my guess, but it is a fairly educated guess so it wouldn't be as much fun. |

For the SSEI 253HP 241Ft/lbs
For the GTP 338HP 326Ft/lbs Im guessing 3800lbs for the SSEI and 3100lbs for the GTP...... and I would guess 15 sec for the SSEI in a quater? |
I'm guessing I need a big ass bankroll in order to mod the balls out of my car to keep up... :P
|
GTP= 330HP
SSEI=305HP |
SSEi: 220hp, 230 tq.
GTP: 256hp, 320 tq. At the wheels. |
|
SSEi - 250 whp & 270 ft-lbs......3800 lbs - 14.4 sec @ 98 mph
GTP - 330 whp & 340 ft-lbs ..... 3400 lbs - 12.8 sec @ 106 mph |

The SSEI and the GTP both have L67 engines, only the GTP is heavily modified. I based my calculations on the posted quater mile times and guessed the weight and rpm to get the hp and torque numbers. My numbers are not far off SilverBullets and he's an engineer, so for me that sounds close? Im an electrician who found an excel spread sheet on a drag website so I cant wait for the real results, Dbkt2 is very knowledable at this so im rooting for him. |

Yes that was Wheel Horse Power, and assuming the 2.7" pulley on the GTP? which will you be using?

My guesses are at the crank.
Bonneville: 257 hp 291 lb ft Grand Prix: 313 hp 352 lb ft Had to through odd-ball last digits (i.e. 313 vs 310 or 315). |
Yes that was Wheel Horse Power, and assuming the 2.7" pulley on the GTP? which will you be using? I only said that because everyone else gave more hp to the GTP. I was showing some love for the B-ville The newest guess: OLBlueEyesBonne: Bonneville: 257 hp 291 lb ft (205.6whp, 232.8wtq.) Grand Prix: 313 hp 352 lb ft (250.4whp, 281.6wtq.) I will be posting my guesses before we leave in the morning so we can see how far off I am. If it is raining it is going to be postponed until next weekend, but hopefully the rain will clear up before 8am, it is supposed to but you never know. |
If I can change my guess, I'm going to change my GTP hp # from 313 to 328hp if the GTP is a coupe (yeah, I opened my hp calculator up and did some figuring basing the weight with the 1/4 #'s) and if it is a 4 dr 333 hp at the crank.
328 hp 2 dr coupe GTP 40th 333 hp 4 dr sedan GTP 40th |
2.45" pulley and 104 octane eh?
Well in that case im goin to 367WHP and 345ft-lbs of torque on the GTP. 12 gallons left over? Is your season over......mine is but the snow is about fly anyday now, would have thought there were a few more runs in for you this season? |

Is your season over......mine is but the snow is about fly anyday now, would have thought there were a few more runs in for you this season? Our season is definately not over. We will definately be going to the track October 18, and possibly on the 1st if the weather is good. But we can drive to the track (~70 miles away) and make 8 runs on 6 gallons of gas. So we are going to put in 2 gallons or so for the dyno since it is only like 15 miles away, and then if we go on Wednesday we will put in the other 4 and not make as many runs, because if we go Wednesday it will just be to get the car tuned for the 18th. And then the other 6 gallons left over will be for the 18th, and the track sells 104 if we decide we need more, its expensive ($4.75 a gallon), but its really convienient. PontiacDad: SSEI: 253whp 241wtq. GTP willwren: 256whp, 320 wtq. joe: 264whp OLBlueEyesBonne: 266.4whp, 281.6wtq. 89BonnieSE89: 272whp, 300wtq. +/- 10% TrueWildMan: 272whp, 300wtq. 2000SilverBullet: 330 whp, 340 wtq. S owhat's the final #'s??? I can't wait to hear. I'm probably not the only one.

Waiting!!!!

OK whats the word!?

My sentiments exactly Sol. :lol: :lol:
Maybe he got rained out or maybe he's resting after a celebration party.....just be patient. |
WAIT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!! LET ME GUESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GTP = 382 HP and 450 ft-lbs (crank) SSEi = 290 HP and 380 ft-lbs (also crank) now quote my guess and tell us the damn numbers |
i agree
the ssei 250hp 290 tg the gtp 260hp 280 tg |

GTP = 382 HP and 450 ft-lbs (crank) SSEi = 290 HP and 380 ft-lbs (also crank) now quote my guess and tell us the damn numbers UNFORTUNATELY...we were unable to make it to the dyno on Saturday morning because of a family emergency, so unfortunately it won't be until next spring when we find out, but I will post a similar topic then, and if we can keep this one on here maybe we can just use this one. I hate to keep you all curious like this but thats how it went down. |
what a tease!!!
|
Sorry to here about the troubles dbkt2, hope all is ok.
Guess we'll have to wait till next spring then, I'm sure you'll be making improvements over the winter skewing our original calculations so we'll need to start with new guess's? |

Guess we'll have to wait till next spring then, I'm sure you'll be making improvements over the winter skewing our original calculations so we'll need to start with new guess's? We will be going to Michigan Grudge Match 4 with the Michigan Grand Prix Club on Octobe 18 @ Mid-Michigan Motorplex, so we will have new 1/4 mile times for the GTP and 1/4 mile times for the SSEi. So at least you will be able to see 1/4 mile times before winter comes. |
It really would've been sweet to go because Zooomer was there dynoing his new engine, the one he just pulled an 11.24 @ 123mph with. 3 weeks after setting the record we dyno'd the 97 GTP again today at the MIGPC dyno day. The car pulled 386.4 WHP! |
