FWI or Rice Pipe for 93 SE
We've been running CAI'* for 5 years on Series 1'*.
You will hurt your performance over 3". Your throttle plate is only 2.25". Go with the rice pipe. The only reason I run a FWI (3.5") now is because of all the porting, including the TB and SC.

Hey that name came from my roomate! He was trying to mock me as it sat in my dorm room as the original was waiting to be mocked up/cut/installed!
IMO, the Rice Pipe works well for 92-99'* because to run a FWI you have to move your charcoal canister, and add some shielding to your lower bumper. Both require a new filter, and some sort of coupling device.
Tubing less than 3" will be smaller then the TB inlet, and be a severe restriction.

It'* special tubing, smoother inside for less turbulence. I would say go with the FWI, even though it may not give you any gains above a FWI. Frankly, the whine alone is worth it!

I can get my hands on aluminum tube stock, and a mandrel to bend it where needed. Either that or I'm sure I could find something else to use that has a smooth inside.

Aluminum pipe isn't what you want. The engine flexes under load. JMB made a FWI for a Bonneville out of Aluminum and it caused problems.
You want flexible tubing. But smooth on the inside.
