The particular scoops I used to have wouldn't work too well. Lund does make smaller single scoops, but IMO a scoop in that location would look kind of funny (unless it was very low profile and custom...any Lund scoop there would not fit right), but that'* just me, if it functioned well, then go for it! I think it would be much easier having a setup like Bill'* though where it comes from the bottom. Try some things out and do what you think'* best.

Well I wanna see if AED comes up with anything for hoods yet and then I'll decide what to do but Im thinkin I'll TRY and make my own scoop cause it definitely has to look good too.

like this?
laugh all you want... but that car was taken from a mid 17 to a mid 15(with stupid amounts of wheel spin) with $500 (that includes an engine rebuild and driving to and from calgary from kamloops BC)
oh and just so you don't think that scoop is there for kicks, this is what was under it
no internal engine mods...still totally N/A and very much carb'd
that scoop was literally a peice of scrap sheetmetal, bent and cut... and welded on... the reverse scoop was off a 70'* muscle car (friend that owned the shop couldn't remeber what car it was taken off the year before in the junkyard)

Yeah like that! But a little wider and maybe a tad longer with a screen in it but yeah thats pretty much what I had in mind.

Definitely make sure you can keep water out of there. A little water in the intake wouldn't hurt it, but more than that will spell trouble. Good luck on your project!

This idea has been running through my head. But where to start... I'm a pretty handy dude but when it comes to engineering something like this I'm out of my league.
I'd like to explore this a little deeper. I now have an extra hood to play around with with the addition of the SE yesterday. I was thinking, rather than adding a scoop to the top of the hood and cutting sheetmetal underneath, I'd prefer to lower the sheetmetal in front of an opening near the middle of the hood. Confused? I am too. I'd like to draw a sketch but that is not one of my talents either.
Any idea if this would be better than the on-the-hood scoops?

I think I know what you mean and that would be a good idea too and probably easier but it might require some welding which I could not do. I was thinking just cut the hole and stick on the hood scoop. Im pretty good with MS Paint so maybe I'll try to sketch something but right now I gotta drop a bomb so maybe later.

Welding, maybe. What do you think of fiberglass? Much easier to make curved shapes

Spray? Well I used baby wipes so... anyways that fiberglass thing sounds pretty good. Im guessing you mean like the opposite of hoodscoop meaning it goes into the hood rather than over so yeah that would be pretty cool.

I like the idea alot, but i think those GP style hoods are the best, maybe trans-am? Also id be more interested in this to lower my under hood temps....
