Default First Performance Mods added to Techinfo

Suggestions for a performance mods on your Bonneville....where to start, where to finish? I just wrote this article by the seat of my pants and finished it at 2am.

I tried to keep it as general as possible. If I left anything out or made an error, PM me and I'll get it fixed ASAP.

Once again, the software duplication is killing us. I will write NO MORE TECHINFO articles until it'* working right, cuz it'* gonna take me a month of sundays to reformat all the screwed up topics!

Topic #25 in Tech Know-how.

Ditto DrSuess'* response to your article.

The only comment I might make is going to the smaller supercharger pulley even before the exhaust upgrade. I know there are greater benefits to doing the exhaust in combination with the pulley but for cost to performance gains ratio, the pulley is the way to go for big immediate gains......50 ft-lbs of torque increase right across the band....a lot more than minor exhaust changes and without the increased sound level.

Thanks, guys.

Dr. Seuss, do the tuneup yourself. We won't let you take it in. We're here to help.

2kSB, consider it done. Good point. Put it in right after the intake?

Ok, bozo.

This is exactly why I wrote that!

First and foremost....start with a basic (or thorough) tune-up. Your car needs to be running at it'* best to gain the most from any performance modification.

This would include an air filter (unless you're going to mod your intake), a fuel filter, PCV valve, O2 sensor, plugs, wires (MSD and Taylor are good choices), Transmission filter, and then make sure your oil, transmission fluid, and coolant are fresh.
Now, if you need any specific info on any one of these, let us know!

Good man. The only part you'll really need help with is probably the trans filter. Let us know when you're ready. It'* a messy job, but not difficult.

whats the difficulty on those "tune-up" mods...(air filter (unless you're going to mod your intake), a fuel filter, PCV valve, O2 sensor, plugs, wires (MSD and Taylor are good choices), Transmission filter, and then make sure your oil, transmission fluid, and coolant are fresh). How difficult would they be for a 16 year old who hasnt changed the oil yet, but has a shop full of just about any tool he would need
