I have been reading alot of posts and I know there is alot of knowledge in here to help me with my project!! This car is my daily driver and showcar. Thank'* in advance.

Read the announcement at the top of this forum for a link to the 'first mods' tech article.

Then while you're in Techinfo, read the article that says "can I supercharge my se or sse?"

Start thinking Turbo or NOS.

The NA 3800 CAN BE SC"d after all! It depends on the Year & Series (I or II)!

The sc for the series II already exists, but the series I is in need of mounting hardware changes. Not a big deal really. There had been Turbo kits for the series II for a while now but they were mild and the engine used its plastic upper intake. LOL not a good combo. Having a new Upper intake made is required for a Turbo and new headers are required. This is all good but the modifications for a Turbo or SC are the main reason the choices are made for either. Personally the upper intake (plastic) has to be replaced regardless.

I'll clarify my reply. Most people ask this question hoping they can pull an M62 or an M90 and bolt it up to their non-supercharged lower intake. It can't be done.

The turbo and centrifugal SC are both options, but bidding starts VERY high. Both would be aftermarket options.

With me being new to bonnevilles What is the term (NA) for the 3800'*??

What kind of SC is on the SSEI? If I use that one off there will it work?

Thanks for the help!!

The SC on the SSEI is a roots (on top of engine with screw like turbine) and the centrifugal sc is a turbo (sea-shell shaped) sc that is run off a pulley driven shaft. The centrifugal sc is a more efficient/better sc but like the turbo it provides its power with a delay. The root SC has much less delay (feels instant) but reaches a limit sooner. Also the roots sc is very difficult to retrofit on a non-sc 3.8l. The easiest way to go is a centrifugal sc or turbo. If you want a sc now it is available for the series 2 non sc 3.8l. If you want a turbo it can be also had fairly quickly (custom job at this point) but not quite as fast. Either is a serious investment and will stress your engine more than normal.

Jeffrey, NA means Naturally Aspirated, or without a forced induction (Turbo or SuperCharger). Your 97 is an NA series II.

Good luck on your modding
