Default exhaust size

Was thinking about changing the exhaust and looking at a Jeg cat.I was wondering if 2 1/2" exhaust or 3". the 2 1/2" will be one in and duel out both the same size, the 3" would be in and duel 2 1/2" out. Which one do you guys think I should go with?both muffler would be dyno max. will a 3" help or hurt me in perf?

I would not use 3 inch unless you have the SC motor. I will redo my exhaust in 3 inch here fairly soon but I am planning a SC motor swap and will need the 3 inch then. A 2.5 inch exhast would be fine for a NA motor.

I do have the SC motor,it is a 95SSEI.I went to a shop today to get an idea of what to do. They do not have 3" exhaust, they can do the 2 1/2" .they want $200 to do the pipes and install,I will supply them with the muffler.I am not sure which muffler to use, it would either be the flowmaster or the dyno max,I am leaning to the dyno max because I think they are more quiet and I also like the sound that they put out.I don't think that this is bad, let me know what you think.

Hey, 200 sounds like a pretty good price on that. I can't tell you from experience, only what I've heard, that 3" would be better for the SC version like we have. I can tell you from experience that the Dyno-Max is a good choice. I've run 2 of them in the past, both on Quad4'*. They claim an 11% improvement in the power band, and I did feel it, doing nothing else to the exhaust besides the muff. The sound IS pretty cool, too.

I got the same car. I was at the shop a week ago or so and they quoted between $200 and $300 for pipe and bending but was unable to bend anything bigger than 2 1/2" pipe. They also couldn't find a performance muffler or high flow catalytic converter for my car (need the cat since I just blew mine out, emmisions legality and all ).

If any of you know of what performance muffler or high flow cat to get, please let me know since I will most likely need to supply my own to the shop.

As far as I know.. any muffler made for the newer Camaros ( with dual outlets ) will work on SSEI'*. As far as legally able to pass emission with the Camaro'* high flow cat... I don't know.

Check this link out for the Cat. This is the one I used, and is widely used on all different types of exhaust. Scroll the page down below the headers. (yes, I know it'* a jeep page, but this is a universal hi-flow cat.....and exhaust is exhaust, right?)

Ya, go for the quiet exhaust. Keep the sleeper edge.
