The only U bend is aiming into the muffler and you can't delete that w/o putting the exhaust too low under the fuel tank.

I just installed a Firebird muffler on my SE and I love it. I used a 95 Firebird 3.8 muffler. The inlet is 2.5 and the two outlets are 2.25. Here'* the thread....
