Exhaust Question
Got a 97' without the supercharger, and was looking around for a new cat and muffler. Two questions that keep on floating in my head is that would my car sound and perform better with this new setup since I dont have a supercharger? And if it does, what products should I look at purchasing and where?
You'll still get better performance even though you're N/A. But getting an intake will improve those benefits. Intake and exhaust go hand-in-hand. Grab a Hi-flow CAT and an F-body performance muffler of your choice.
I got my Magnaflow well before I got my intake, and even though the sound was nice, I didn't feel too much gain until I installed the intake as well. Then I felt more improvement, especially the SOUND

Where'* that post that Jason did with all the sound clips? I need to put that in Techinfo this weekend. It'll help alot. It has all the flow specs of the mufflers, and what they sound like on all our cars.

Yea, I know I still need to get an intake. DP said there will be some coming out soon for the series 2. Roughly how much horsepower/torque gain would I be expected to gain from the whole setup? Is the muffler more for sound or does it really help out a lot? Actually I was looking around the Magnaflow website and it got me thinking a little bit. Thanks

Now if you were */C'd you get a much bigger hp increase with the same mods.
It'* hard to say, as we can't make a straight comparison. I'm supercharged with 2.5" exhaust, your NA with 2.25" exhaust. You'll FEEL both mods, which usually means it'* into the 'seat of the pants dyno' range of 5-10 hp each, at least. Of course, as already stated, You may only gain 5 from the intake, and 10 from the exhaust, but you may see 20 to 25 combined. They work together better than alone
Allright, COOL!
The CAI is basically the samething as an open air intake but with some type of heat shield, right? Sorry about all the questions, I just want to make sure I help my car and not hurt it.

There'* the mentioned exhaust sound clips Mr. Wren had mentioned. I feel that the muffler topic is a toss up. Get what you want and feel comfortable paying for.
