Question engine upgrade 77 bonne???

Im looking for ideas on an engine swap. I will not be doing the swap(not enough time in my day to pull it off). My bonneville has the stock 301 2bbl, Im looking to upgrade and wondering how much of a hassle it would be to throw a engine out of a newer model engine(say a caprice, roadmaster, impala ss..u get the idea) into her. What all would i need to pull this off. Would anyone recomend something different? I realize this is a broad topic just looking for suggestions and ideas. Im still in the thought process of the swap. Ive done some searches but nothing that helped me out. Thanks for any ideas or comments..

Do you know if the 301 has the same basic mounting points and bell housing as a 350? if so, that opens up nearly anything.

It can be done..you would have to change engine mounts(frame & motor). if you using a LT1 like out of a roadmaster you will have to convert to EFI. But they do make a carb style intake for tha LT1. You could get a 350 pontiac & drop it right in. that would be tha easyist route

the basic 350 is probably what i will end up going with..just thought it would be cool to open up the hood n have a LT1 sittin in the "ol lady"..i realize anything is possible just wasnt sure how feasible it would be? like I said just rolling ideas around in my head before i make a decision. a buddy of mine has a roadmaster in his back yard n i could get his engine for probably next to nothing, thats how the idea of the lt1 swap came into mind..didnt know what all id need..engine, tranny, computers, etc... and how much of a hassel it would be?

with a 350, there are SO many bolt ons and accessories available. The possibilities are endless.

If you have a donor car. you can pull tha complete drivetrain, ECM & being that there both B-Bodies(i beleave). you could get tha frame mounts, rad, & fuel tank from tha rodie & you good to go. do a net searh on LT1 swaps. you have a good idea & you have a good donor, researh, take your time & i.m sue she'll come out unique..

Hey, how about upgrade the old 301 to the 4.9Turbo out of the 80-81 T/A? I just happen to have about 4 complete turbo setups... give it a real kick in the a** without removing the engine.

The 301 has the BOP bellhousing.a Pontiac or Olds motor should drop right in. You could also put a Buick without too much effort. If you have a THM 200 trans, you will want to get rid of it. There are plenty of those cars around with diffent types of engines that would have the hardware that you would need. In 1977, you could have a Buick, Pontiac or Olds or Chevy engine in those cars. That is what started the lawsuit against GM.

Just my 2 cents unless you have time to mess with it a lot or want to pay someone else to do it stay away from BOP engines...they are great when they are running right but that is a rare occasion atleast in my experience lol...as long as u have a th350 tranny you can just spend like 50 bucks and my the adapter plate instead of getting a new tranny...If you want something crazy throw a big block in there, if you want something easy throw a 350 in it, but if you have a little more money put a 383 stroker in it like i said its just my 2 cents and if i was in your situation that is what i would do.
