Default Electrical idea

May be a bad idea, but is there any way to put or convert a normal On/Off switch to the rear window defogger, rather than the timed thing?

Along this line, where is the timer? In the switch or hidden elsewhere along the circuit?

Hmmmm....not sure about yours. With my auto climate control, I'm pretty sure it'* built in to the control unit.

Hmmmmm, bummer. Maybe build an alternate circuit? Gotta see If my Chiltons has a wiring diagram. I hate scraping Ice, and it would be nice to be able to have the rear window defrosting when I use my remote starter.

Add a relay to your remote starter to momentarily close the circuit. Just bridge the circuit to your switch. Is the rear defrost switch part of the climate control, or mounted elsewhere?

All ya gotta do......

Find your main control relay for the remote starter. Find a wire that produces 12v at least momentarily when you press START on the remote.

Take that 12v to the coil of a relay. Now open your CC box, and find the 2 wires to the rear defrost switch if you can. Parallel those two wires to the NO contacts of the relay you just added.

Voila! You just did it. Rear defrost will come on when the car starts.

Sounds like a do-able plan. The only problem is, it seems my defroster is pretty weak. Seems to take almost the whole "cycle" to just remove dew. Can't wait to see what it does with ice or snow...
