ebay turbocharger
I found a couple! The one I'm bidding on is a $9 staring bid with free shipping. Here'* the link:

I'm posting this in hopes of you considering the "no idea is stupid" part of the description of this thread. I want to turbocharge something. I'm hoping I can go to a car auction and find something to turbocharge when I get this. Maybe my car will get a hold of it.
I really hope I win so that I can go around turbocharging cars. I've already found a couple of welders, and there are almost too many 3800 engines around. It should be fun playing with non-3800 turbos and 3800 engines. Any thoughts?

I agree that I hope this doesn't turn into a flame about the idea. I do think that no idea is stupid.
However, be prepared to hear about all of the other stuff you WILL need to make it work correctly. Tuning, Fuel issues, Trans upgrades, other supporting mods.... the list probably goes on.
Yes, it CAN be done. I don't know anything about turbos though, so I have no idea if that one is even WORTH $10.00 :?

1. Never bid until the last 5 minutes. You're jacking your own final price up by bidding now.
2. That'* going to be about a $1000 install if you have very good connections. Twice that would be normal.
3. Custom PCM.
4. You'll be gutting your SC to make that work. If you want dual boost, start at 3k.
5. This doesn't include your trans upgrades.
6. Have you checked the specs on that to see if it'* properly sized for the application?

If you want a turbocharged vehicle to play with, stick with a car that was turboed from the factory. Dodge/Chrysler 2.2/2.5 turbos are in my opinion the easiest ones to start out with. Tons of them exist in scrap yards, and running examples can be had on the cheap.

Wow, these are great suggestions. Thanks a lot for the quality comments. I might end up going to a junk yard to pick up just any light car and see what I can do with it. On Monday, I'm going to go to a few yards to look for Bonneville stuff, and hopefully I might see something else I like.

If you do end up getting a turbo Dodge, let me know. I have a Mopar Performance 2.2/2.5 performance handbook that tells you step-by-step on whats, hows, and whys on everything. It'* a relic from my LeBaron GTC 2.5 turbo/5 speed build I done a few years back

I think pontiacjeff did pretty well with a $130 ebay turbo for a while. I just want to get a cheap turbo, do a half-baked exhaust manifold, and run a yard car for no good reason. I've been inspired because I want to see if I can build a high-HP dragster for little $. I already have a few plans, and this is just for fun. I'll let you know, and please you guys tell me if something of this nature crops up. Thanks.
