Default Dual cone intake?

I was discussing an intreguing idea with a coworker tonight.

What, if any, would be the benefits of having a dual cone CAI setup? There would be one pipe coming from the throttle body and going down and it would then split and have two cones just behind the front bumper.

Would this be pointless? Or would there be a serious benefit over a single cone setup?

I don't think it would work any better than one. One filter and pipe would provide enough airflow, and it would be nice and laminar.

Absolutely. You'd be introducing too much turbulence. And you can't suck that much air.

It can work fine, but to make it worth the effort you'd spend a lot of money fabricating, and getting a good flow.

Just get a filter that flanges like the wedge shapped one many of us run.

Only some pretty highly tuned turbo cars can push the limits of a good filter, 99% of the time. It'* kinda sick actually, 9" cones will do weird things

He'* going to build one for his 3800 (it'* in a 2 door olds, i forgot what model) so I'll have to see how it turns out. I'll update this post after he gets his setup done.

Thank you for your input!
