Default dog bones?

just wondering if a double dog bone setup can be fitted onto our cars like on the grand prix'*, or is the single mount on the bottom of the engine enough?

I was actually curious about this as well because the rear of my subframe is extremely weak from corrosion. And it would be a good preventative.

As far as i know the radiator support on the bonneville is not strong enough to support the dogbones and would bend under stress causing misalignment of the front end parts which wouldnt be a good thing

that is what i thought as well. I could not say for sure, but i'm very confident i heard it somewhere, however, i suppose it would be ok for just a little extra support???

Newfie, that won't work for the reasons stated. I recall you have a 2k? Can you please put that in your signature? There'* alot of differences between the years.

If I recall, didn't you do the solid front motor mount? It has the same effect.

willwren; yes i did do the solid motor mount, works great, this is just something i was brainstorming about for the future, but the dogbone setup looks to be a much stronger mount for higher hp engines, i am currently fabricating my own strut tower brace and brackets, along with two braces to bolt diagonally from about half way back each fender to roughly 18" in from both sides on the rad support, adds about 5-6 lbs but tightens the front end alot, if i ever get the time and money to build a race engine, i think with the extra support i'm adding the rad support could handle the dogbones without the bottom mount.

The strut and corner bracing won't help with engine flex. Only cornering.

There are alot of cars here putting down alot more power than you without the dogbones, and they have no issues or complaints. The solid front mount is the ultimate solution.

sure, the corner braces and strutbar will not help from a pure HP point of view, but not everyone here wants their car to go in a straight line. A slow car that handles amazingly is more fun to drive IMO than a fast car that sucks at cornering

i don't know if you recall but i mentioned before that race my car in a leauge on the weekends, circuit , these relatively easy to fabricate braces make a big difference in these conditions, i guess the easiest thing to ask would be, how much hp can a single mount handle?

why dont you get the Factory GXP strut tower brace instead of fabricating your own?
