Remember my trans pressure line failure/fire last year? (June I think). I lost 7 quarts in about 30 seconds (at speed) on a bridge I couldn't stop on. I think the remaining fluid was destroyed by heat/friction. No apparent damage to the trans, though. Then I added seven quarts, and only diluted the problem.

This sucker should have been flushed then. 85k original miles on the trans. Runs like a top now.

ONLY a FLUSH will get all the fluid. You'll only get about half from dropping the pan. If you do that twice a year, you might do ok, but a flush is worth it. Cost me 80 bucks.

If I had to do it again, I'd drop the pan, change the filter, fill it up again, drive it for a month, THEN go get a flush. The flush doesn't deal with the filter, unfortuneately.

Cant you just drop your pan and fill that 6 1/2 up, then disconnect one of your trans cooler lines and start your engine and let a quart drain and then put another quart in...... keep doing that until its clear?

Man, that would be a MESS. I suppose it'* possible, but you'd have to be quick. The fluid coming out is at 70psi, the fluid going in is at zero.

Tranny flush that truly has a pressurized flush will loosen partials built up in the nooks and crannies and they are dislodged. In the end it can and does cause tranny failure. So a more passive flush or very regular intensive flushing is recommended.

Yup. The passive flush uses the tranny'* own pressure to flush, not forcing it with an external pump. That'* twice in one day that Ty was right about something (but he'* only right cuz I agree with him)

Sure Will you believe what you need to believe.....um ya and as for "being right" I don’t share info I have not already previewed with the best in the business so that way I am always right....wow that sounded bad..LOL..Im going to go and pace while I wait for product results.

So what do you tell the shop then? Or ask when you're going in for a Tranny flush and how would you know if it'* too abrasive or pressurized to be any benefits? ( how is passive flush done? )
