Default Difference between intakes?

Looking for a new air intake setup to replace my stock. Now what is the difference between the 200$ one'* on Domestic Performance and places like that, to the 40$ one'* that ebay user'* sell? As long as the pipe is smooth and sturdy, shouldnt the one on ebay just be fine? Or am I probably missing something? Eventually I would like to add a new mufller and cat, and read on here that using an open air intake is the best way to go for a mod like that. :?:

i have seen some of the ones on ebay on our cars and if you ask me the intake is too short and the filter isnt big enough and it looks like it would just end up suckin in a lot of hot air from your engine bay and that defeats the purpose of an intake. the $200 ones from domestic performance are made for our cars and you would be a lot more satisfied with one i think, but thats just me....... a little more money but well worth it

You really want your filter placement as close to the back side of the headlight as possible for cold air intake, and also because the longer pipe promotes more laminar flow by the time it reaches the throttle body.

A couple members here have purchased ebay units, and were pissed about the quality. Some look like they were hammered out with a ball peen hammer. I personally don't feel there'* anything remotely like a 'universal' intake. The right fit and location means everything.

Heck, I like both of them! I would say at least 1500$ also. But willwren does have the heat shield which could kick the price up to 2000$. :P But since I am new here, I think I should get a 98% discount on both of them!!!
