Performance, Brainstorming & Tuning Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Didn't think it would make much difference.

After thinking about this for awhile I removed my MEF screen. I didn't want to do it because I figured it was the last defence against sucking something into my intake. I figured" what the hell" try it. It does make a differance. I have a rice pipe and this 99 se is sucking air much better! Low end torque hasn't changed much but, mid range is much better! 50 mph -80 is much better.

On my 94 it made the idle a little rough. Have no intension of doing it on my 98 unless I bore the TB. Anyone else have opinions on this?

I did keep it if I have problems and want to put it back in. It takes less then 60 seconds to take out with a flat blade screw driver.

It takes abotu 5 with ring pliers. 4 to get it on right, and one to pull.

I noticed a lil, and i only did it on my intake setup. But N/A needs all the help it can get.

:? Well, This morning I got in the car and the check engine light was on? I checked the sensor connection and all looked okay as far as I can tell?? Does the computer need to learn the new air flow or something?? Any advice would be appericiated. It still seems to run good.

It may have to re-learn the airflow. Otherwise try resetting the PCM by disconnecting the negative battery terminal.

I dont necessarily agree with removing the MAF screen, but it should be a good idea to test the car with it back on. Just to make sure.

After seeing all the crap that gets onto an MAF screen over time.... :? Im leary, but either way, its been done, people have done it, so hopefully it wont cause you a problem!
