Default Custom CAI

Finished my CAI.

Another view is in my sig pic below. Made it with .093" Acrylic, with .75x.75 aluminum L brackets for support. The cover is removable with three thumbscrews, just like the headlight retainers (only alot smaller....used 8-32'*).

Not sure on the temp improvements, but I'll get the scantool on there soon and take some IAT readings with and without the intake. It'* open to the fender and rear of the headlight. I'll be ducting some Ram air in behind the headlight soon from a scoop under the car.

Details on the laser engraving on the cover are in the YOUR RIDE forum.

You made that or bought it? I'm sure many Series I users would be interested in buying those if they were mass produced. You got one here.

Made it.

BTW, it'* attached to the filter, and has room to move for engine torquing.

The problems for mass producing are immense. Here'* all the variables:

1. Whether or not you have the double washer fluid tank for the headlights.
2. Series II PCM is in that location.
3. NA and SC TB'* are at different angles.
4. Length and angle of the intake pipe itself.

So this box will ONLY work on a Series I L67 with the headlight washers. It MIGHT work for the L27 with the same options. It'* a tight fit.

Finalizing my plans for the ram air to feed the box and keep a positive cold air pressure.

I can't wait to start working so I can hook up my ride. Bill, do you wish you had a Series II ? Just wondering because maybe you would have more HP than you have now.

I've got more hp and tq than a stock Series II L67 I started low, would have been better to do this with a Series 2 to begin with, but I like it anyway.

Will, how hard would it be for me to make that heat shield if you wrote up some directions?

Or do you think since basically the only difference between my intake and yours is the angle of it (and the filter, but I'll get the K&N soon)..you could make one and I can pay you whatever you want. I'm sure I can make it fit if you made it like yours. I don't know how difficult it is so don't worry if you can't. And no hurry if you can.

If you didn't see in "Your Ride"....what'* that K&N part #? Looks great!!!! Is that the one you were talking about that was the "perfect fit" for our car?

Thanks Will.

Bozo.

I can post dimensions/instructions on the box if you want......but it really is pretty easy. I used a table saw and a scrollsaw (not jigsaw, cut radius was too tight) and a cordless drill to make mine. And the laser for customization, but you can just use that cover for a home for all your performance stickers.

If you look at my maxifuse relay center above the firewall, you'll see where my stickers went

I'm NOT gonna make any more of these. I don't have the time. Ok, I MIGHT make kits, but don't count on it any time soon. Wait until I get temp/performance numbers off it, and make any final adjustments.
