Default Considering a shift kit...BUT

Ive been looking at the shift kit from the W-body store, mostly because its pretty cheap, and although the mod bug has never left me, ive been trying to save money.

But anyway, do you all think its a wise idea to install a shift kit when my transmission already acts funky on occasion.

It will slip in reverse if I get on the gas too fast after it engages. Also ive occasionally had it act "strange" when going into 4th gear. I recall one time it just slammed into 4th, but ive never had that happen again.

What im saying is, I get the feeling the tranny isnt rock solid to begin with, but i do trust it for the time being. Do you think a shift kit would just push it over the edge?

that sounds more like a electrical isue with the trans- either a bad ground or a solenoid from hell........the shift kit wont hurt anything though IMO. If anything it should increase the longevity and reliability of your trans.

I agree! It won't hurt anything. The only risk I see is that you may have to spend a pile of money on the trans because of other problems. BUT, I think you will STILL want a shift kit in a NEW or REBUILT transmission anyway. I know I would...
