Do those gel covers dim the light much? I saw them at Autozone. I don't want to be whacked from the rear by someone who can't see my brake lights.

No they supposedly just change the light, they are just a thin film if i remember right... Unless you found something really different, but i'd say go for it. Are your brakes white right now?!?!

I haven't driven anywhere with just the one clear tail yet. I'm not gonna give it a test drive until I have cleared them all and have suitible red lighting.

No, no, no... I am still driving my Bonny, I just put the normal tail back on before I went anywhere. The gels I saw were rather thick. Wal-mart and Autozone had the same ones.

gels don't do anything but change tha bulb color a little, I had some red ones for tails and the rest of my tails were actual red bulbs. I took the gels off cause they weren't as red as the actual red bulbs; I repalced the gels with two more pairs of red bulbs (total of 10 red bulbs in back includ'n middle trunk lights) now cause I drive with my headlights and foglights on in tha day U can't really tell that thery're on at all if Ur behind me. Also, I changed my front side corners into chrome bulbs so it looks like none are in there (my corners are clear no orange lens) I also changed the parkin' lights to chrome also for tha same effect.

I think Crappy Tire in Canada has colored bulbs already.. although I don't know if they would fit or not since I"ve never looked at it.. but I believe there'* some that will be with different model number but will fit with the same pins and such.. try takin an old one to the local auto store.. and ask to see their selection of red bulbs

I've tried a few stores around here for red bulbs, with no luck. There are a few more around, so I guess I'll try them. The housings on the trunk can be cleared, but they are glued together, unlike the main which are tabs and caulk.
