Ceramic brake pads and slotted rotors
Well, the Bonnie is finally making the tell-tale noises that signal it'* time for new brake pads. I've actually been almost looking forward to this (I'm sick, I know ) because I've wanted to switch to ceramic pads and slotted rotors anyway. The thing is, there are a lot of options out there and I was wondering if anyone had any specific reccomendations or horror stories.
I also came across this... http://www.domesticperformance.com/p...roducts_id=108...and wondered what you thought of it. They seem cheap (unless that 113$ is per rotor and not per pair), but that worries me.
Also, I have to share the most annoying thing I found during my research...a company charging Pontiac and Chevy owners more for the exact same brake pads than Buick or Caddy owners (apparently they think we're stupid ). That is, unless I'm missing some subtle difference, but they're the same part number...check it out. http://www.ceramicfriction.com/proactpontiac.htm ACT699- $73.25... http://www.ceramicfriction.com/proactbuick.htm ACT699- $40.30. Am I missing something? :?
Please help me navigate the brake parts jungle.

I think DP is per SET (front 2) however, the 113 is just the base rotor, each option adds money. To have cryod, slotted, drilled rotors would cost you 411.40.
Below we offer slotting, drilling and most importantly the option for Cryogenic Treatment. The price posted is for the base rotor without any options. Your custom Options are chosen near the bottom of this product page each changing the cost based on the options you choose.

Debates will rage on this particular item. Buy what fits you budget. When it comes to brakes, people will give you advice forever. It comes down to what you want based on what you can afford.
If skys the limit the cryo brakes or Brembo will always kick ***. I have crossed drilled and slotted at all four corners with ceramic pads, I do experience minor rear squeak at low speeds, but I dont care about that. Stops the car better then stock.
RSM brakes are decent as well. For your level of mods on the SSEi (that I know of ) they should suit just fine.
Either way..good luck there.

slotted are for better braking, crossdrilled are more for the cooling aspect... (i spent $1800 on cd/slotted wilwood brakes for my old car and it stopped from 60 in 101ft, and squeaked like a friggin mouse)

Anyway, thanks everyone. You all said just what I wanted to hear. I just wanted to check that there weren't any particular companies to avoid or that were much better than others. Since that'* not a factor I think I will go with the Akebono Pro Act pads and SP Performance slotted rotors. They seem to be a good compromise between performance and affordability (the whole system, all four wheels, will cost me about $425...that'* close enough to what OEM brakes would have been.
I just hope I don't "squeak like a friggin mouse"

So , I want to upgrade my brakes. I want t stop faster because of my mods. What do I buy ? Slotted rotors? I'm never gonna see turn 2 at Sebring going 130.
I just want to stop faster. What do I need ?
