Default Changing rear end gears in the gxp

I know this is easy in fords with the 8.8 rear end, my mark8 had 4.10'* in the rear and they were nice. How hard/easy is it to change gears in the gxp? can it be done? I am sure it would screw up the shift points and you can't get a chip for the car, so it may not be easy. Anyone have any input?

You're talking about the Bonneville GXP? They're FWD, not RWD.

ignore teh useless post above....

In theory the final drive grear ratio could be changed; the GXP already has a very aggressive ratio. However, without PCM support it may not be do-able due to shiftpoints unless a kit exists somewhere for a differently toothed speed sensor reluctor(?) wheel

do a google search about 4t80e performance parts and maybe you could dig something up, also i would look into caddilac forums for better 4t80e support

WTF Toasty... you look like a jerk with this statement??????

There are no rear end gears in a GXP, however final drive and other ratio'* could be changed.

However, there is NO PCM support. This is a big factor.

No more bitchfesting. The best we can do is explain the difficulties in making it work, I don't think we can really do much to help you find a different ratio. Until the PCM is cracked (not likely to ever happen) this won't work well.

Default Changing Final Drive Gear Ratio

Is the GXP transaxle the same unit used in the 3.8s or is it a Caddy / Olds unit adapted to the Bonnie?
