Ok so I put in a cold air intake thing from intense. It came with a mounting thing but I couldn't figure out what to mount it on so its only on by one bolt but it'* holding. So anyway what I want to know is will the pcm or whatever that heavy duty computer-looking thingy overheat right there? Because it was in the airbox and has fins on it so that brings me to make the asumption that it was like that to keep it cool and I don't see a whole lot keeping it cool now other than air from the cooling fans. I figured I would ask because I doubt it has a sensor to turn it off if it gets to hot and it looks mighty expensive to have to replace.

hugger, The Intense CAI should haver come with a PCM tray to locate & secure in place the PCM after air box removal. Is that the fender well intake? The PCM should be okay configured the way you have it so long as it'* secured to the tray correctly.

the PCM is completely weatherproof, noone knows why it was mounted in the airbox to begin with

well you can't see it but it is on the tray i just could only figure out to mount it that way with one bolt, I wish they had a picture of where to mount it but it'* been fine so whatever. Yeah, its the intense fenderwell kit. I'll probably post again when I get a good estimate as to what mpg it helps me get. Thanks for the info.

Mine has been like that for years with no issues.

The pcm is pretty durable. It is weatherproof, and as many people as we have on here if one was going to overheat, someone would have had it happen by now. Don't worry about it. Mine has been like that for almost 2 years never any problems.

I think maybe it was a matter of convience to mount the pcm in the airbox. That is just my opinion though.

You'll be impressed with the new intake set up.

Remember GM designs their cars to be run pretty much anywhere in the 50 states. That means in death valley as well as MN and the New England states. It may help cooling in 100 degree plus weather to be in the airbox.

I could'nt tell you if it made that much of a difference because I installed it before I could even drive the car. I'm trying to drive slow to see what kind of mileage I can milk out of it but it is HARD:P .Umm I will definately want to put a new pulley on down the road. I can't decide on a 3.5 or a 3.4. I hear 3.4 gives like 20+ horses but you get problems with KR and I don't even know what KR is so that worries me. So I might just get a 3.5 pulley and find some other under-300 dollar mods to do that don't require me to get to deep into that motor because I still have to commute in this thing and fuel economy is a big deal for me too. :P

A 3.4 gives 30HP and 50ftlb of torque.
