Default Bonne Towing capabilties

Ok so i am planning on moving to Arizona from South Dakota. The trip is about 1325 miles and I want to use my 1996 SSEi Bonnevile to tow my trailer with. Can somebody recommend a trailer hitch and tell me how much tongue weight and gross trailer weight the Bonne can handle? I do not have a trailer yet, but would like to get one large enough for a couch, loveseat, king mattress, and a lot of boxes. I want to make sure I am doing this safely but also cheaply. If you guys have towed with your SSEi please give me some input of do'* and don'ts. I tried to do a search but my computer or this site is acting up so it was taking way to long.

The maximum towing capacity should be outlined in your owners manual. I would recommend a good trans cooler (if you don't have one) and fluid/filter change before and after the tow.

I am not sure if I have a tranny cooler or not. Where would it be located if I did have one and how much do they cost and how hard are they to install if I do not have one.

your car comes stock with a tranny cooler in the bottom of your rad...for 30 bucks you can get a decent aftermarket one. a hayden 404 should be plenty for you.

The maximum towing capacity should be outlined in your owners manual. i would advise you to not go over it.

enjoy!

Your SSEi has a factory cooler which is built into the radiator and isn't up to the task for things like towing and the Arizona temps you are moving to. But if to look on the engine side of your radiator near the radiator cap you'll see to metal lines going into the rad. those are for the transmission.

Aftermarket trans coolers are cheap and easy to install.

Ok the tranny cooler should be easy to deal with. The owners manual actually says not to tow with the SSEi though. Why would that be?

because it wasn't made to tow i'd expect.

maybe it'* possibly because of the rear suspension?

if it doesn't give you weights etc it'* probably a BAD idea to tow with it. i'd wait till you had MANY people give you distances, conditions, weights, etc of what they did before i'd go and do it.

also they make hid-a-hitches which is what i use. google em.

edit:out of curiosity you did search on this matter before making a thread right...?
