Default Basic tune up and exhaust info needed

Whassup!!! gang. I have a simple yet very important question refering to plugs and exhaust. I recently put a set of Autolite double platinum plugs and was wondering... would I benefit any by opening the exhaust even without any other mods?are the plugs I picked ok?Would colder plugs add anything performance wise? and last but not least.......What size pipe and muffler considering it'* an Ei?Are there any "quiet" mufflers that would help flow and still sneak up on ya?

You will not noticed any increase of power with colder plugs, but it will help your car keeping his power in hot temperature, and its a supporting mod if you drop pulley size.

You dont really need to change mufflers, it will flow enought, you can begin with a high flow cat, and ported manifolds. This will give you stronger and smoother acceleration, especially if you have a smaller pulley.

Not sure about your plugs.

Platinum are not usually used in an Ei, I doublt you are causing any problems running stock with them though.

On the exhaust, many are on the louder end of the spectrum. You and I are a couple on the other quieter end. The stock exhaust is good and the muffler can not be outflowed. No need to swap it to anything higher flow, you won't gain anything. A high flow cat as mentioned can help with less restriction.

If you are looking for a little more from it, maybe an intake and smaller pulley are in your future.

Do not run Platinum plugs on a supercharged car. They cannot dissipate the heat well enough. User standard (copper) or Irridium plugs only.

Default Re. Basic

Thanks for the info Mike,Bill & Will. I will change the asap and try the colder ones since I plan on running a pulley in the new future. That may explain why I'm running a little warm (210). I didnt know that stock mufflers flowed so well. From what I've read NGK is the brand of the land here so I'll get on it soon. Thanks again for the info. P.*. Are "Drilled" T-Stats readily available at parts stores or is that a custom thing?

You can drill your own. Parts stores won't have them. 1 1/16" hole usually does the trick for slightly modded.
