I "was" getting around 25-27 highway...with my lead foot...BUT lately it'* dropping...14 to 15...I suspect a O2 sensor or such...I'll get back to ya...

That is what my mechanic buddy said. My plug wires are all shorting out too. After less than 3 mnths of use (just put them in). How do you test coils to see if they are broken?

Techinfo has that procedure. But sometimes they only start missing when hot. No way to check that with an ohmmeter.

The mechanic I went to sprayed some soapy water on them. We watched sparks fly from all 3 coils. Is that a "proper" procedure?

I do not remember what kind, but they are 2 months or so old. The sparks were jumping from the wires to different parts of the coils.

Were the sparks jumping from the wire connection to the screws on the coils?

Yes indeed they were. The car is stuttering like mad. At idle it threatens to die all the time. But does not quite make it. I thought at first it was the ALT. But apparently its the coils.
