Alternator Question

would a alternator from a 98 SE work on mine 94 SSE

DrJay 05-11-2005 09:21 PM

Not sure but I doubt it. There were a few years of transition between the CS-130 and CS-130D. The CS-130 AND CS-130D was used from '93-96 on some GM cars, not sure when the Bonneville switched over though. If your '94 has a square plug on the alternator it's a CS-130, the CS-130D used an oval plug.

There might be adapters out there for the wiring, if you want I could help you find one. I'm not sure about the mounting though.

I'm not sure about the mounting either... I haven't had the units side by side, but the L36 95-99 seem to use a larger unit, also the L36 alternator has 3 bolts as opposed to the 2 thats used on the LN3-L27..

Anyone know if the 95-99 L36 alternator can be swapped to the L27?

Cool....

You may hear some whistling from that alternator at times, its totally normal... I got 90,000 miles out of the first Ac Delco.... So far the reman AC Delco is giving me good service too...
