Item #3 in the diagram is obviously the downpipe. It measures almost 3" OD but don't be fooled. It'* a double walled piece, so the ID is more like 2 3/8".
I cut the flange off the cat and used it to weld to a true 3" SS pipe. The fortuneate thing was the TOG headers extend the rear manifold down farther and included a 45 degree 3" elbow so I was able to go straight in.
3" all the way back to the Y splitter.
