If you want better stopping spend more money and get the better pads and do waste your time at autozone they don't carry anything worth spending money on. Get Bendix or other good well known brake pads. Also make sure you use a good amount of brake lube on your sliders for your calipers and take your time. Also always replace all the hard wear you can to prevent failors.

i will 100% agree that the drums are just fine as long as they have good shoes and are lubricated and adjusted properly. As long as the front discs have good quality rotors and pads, and the hydraulic system is clear, then you should have no problems whatsoever.

Also, I wouldn't go to autozone, I would trust somewhere like Advance or Checker. Or if you have the extra money I would say Napa. But in my mind are just a high priced last resort.

I'd like to clarify as it kind of sounds like a good lube job on the calipers is suggested.

You lightly lubricate the slides. Don't slather it on there. Excess lube collects dirt and dust, which you don't want.
