Default Airbox resonator?

If i am understanding everything correctly, the only purpose of the resonator(i think thats what its called) in the airbox is to quiet the idle?? so its restricting airflow to make it quieter??And removing this wouldnt affect the MPG or anything else?? thanks

It'll affect MPG for the better. It'll be a lil louder too.

I'm a little confused on where this resonator is. If it'* like my other car'* resonator the inlet side is much smaller than the outlet, correct?

Now I'll assume that'* correct (cuzz I'm never wrong ) then the Bonneville'* resonator is this plastic tube that is snapped on the front of my air box that starts out at about 1.5 inches and just behind my headlight then opens to about 3 inches. Is that correct?

Now if thats not the case than ether I'm blind or it'* not there.
