Default ? air box mod plz help

what is involved in gutting an air box? what gets removed..anything that looks like it doesnt need to be there..what stays? and how much of an improvement will i see in the performance of my car? ...if there is already a thread the just give me the like to it if you can.

P.*. i do plan on getting an intake in the near future so dont tell me to just get one instead and leave the air box.

There'* no NEED to gut a 92-95 SC or 92-94 NA box.

You can port it for more airflow, though.

Drill 3 large 2" diameter holes across the top forward facing part of the box behind the headlight. Stuff 3 two-inch hoses in them, and route the hoses to fresh air in the fender and behind or below the headlight. Then get a drop-in K&N filter. That'll get you about 5hp.
