Interesting -- when I do a search on GM Pars Direct, the part number I come up with for an 04-05 Bonneville with the ride and handling suspension is 25650388, which when I go back and reference the part number directly comes up as a 20 mm bar. The part number you have for the 22 mm bar(# 25666234) is still good number if you search on the number directly, but if you start by searching on the vehicle itself (by model and year) this number does not come up. I am guessing this is a failure of the GM Parts Direct website. So, I am going to say you are right on this one.

How about the front GXP bar? Is my information on this correct or incorrect?

Oh, and about those Saner bars -- wow, that'* some beef!

I haven't had time to post what I did, but I recently did a GXP suspension swap. Here'* what I found:

1. The GXP friont sway (FE5) is the same as the SSEi bar (FE3). 30mm...same PNs

2. The front struts are the same.

3. The front springs are a different P/N than the SSEis. Now that I have them installed, it seems my front end is sitting a little higher. I believe it'* because the GXP has the N* engine anb heavier trans. I'm not sure if the spring rates are different.

4. The GXP rear sway (FE5) is 22mm and hollow. You have to order new bushings. The brakets and endlinks are reusable. Good time to upgrade the endlinks to poly bushings. I could not find usable 22mm mid-point bushings. Just ordered stockers.

5. The rear springs are a different PN and seem to be a different spring rate.

6. The GXP rear shocks (FE5) are beefier than the SSEi (FE3) shocks. Seem to be better build quality.

FWIW - I didn't notice much difference between the two suspensions. I saw moderate improvement in cornering and on/off ramps on the highway.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd just do the GXP rear sway and rear shocks. I got the whole suspension setup from Ed from a parted out 05 GXP so I'm glad I didn't pay full price for new GM stuff.

Hope the helps.

**EDIT - I misposted originally and said the SSEi had FE2...it should of been FE3.**
**EDIT 2 - It might be FE2 afterall. Need to confirm. .**

Another thing that I plan to install on my 00 SSEi is a pair of rear coil springs I pulled from an 01 Olds Aurora that had the FE-3 suspension. I am hoping that this will also firm up the rear end with out changing ride height as everything that I have read indicates that the Olds FE-3 is firmer than the Pont FE-2. A bit higher is OK. I made sure the Aurora was not a No * V8 car. Just in case there was a weight diff. although I could not find any diff. between the two engine options as far as coil spring part numbers. Has anyone else done this swap? I also made sure that the springs were from a car built after Jan 01 as I had read that there had been a spec change from earlier models and the newer part # was better. As far as air shocks go, I just plan on using Monroe Max Air shocks as replacements. Are these a performance downgrade from the BIG BUCK factory units? The Air Max'* are only $59.99 a pair ar O'reiley auto parts stores.

I found this in a GM promotional release on the 2004 Bonneville: "GXP: Monotube DeCarbon rear dampers, 22-inch solid stabilizer bar"

Are you sure your rear GXP bar is hollow? You can find the whole promo release here: http://media.gm.com/division/2004_pr...lle/index.html

I have read several times on this site that the rear GXP bar is hollow. I have also read that the FE-3 suspension was not offered on the 2000 -2005 Bonnevilles. Only the FE-2 for the SSEi and the FE-5 for the GXP. The FE-3 was Oldsmobile.

I'm not sure...I'll have to confirm. sorry to confuse everyone.

As for the bar, it was light (I have solid sway bars on my GTP and they are freakin' heavy) and sounded hollow when I pinged lightly with a wrench. I'm pretty sure the GXP bar is hollow.

That works for me -- you've had your hands on the bar.
