Default add a supercharger to a non supercharged 3800 ?

I have a 93 sse w/75,000mi, series 1 of course. Is it possible to add a supercharger to it or would I also need a lot of other addons as well? My lower air intake is starting to leak so I figured id check this out before I change the gasket & do it all over the winter. Also, how much would this cost? About.

haha not this again...no offence but I'm gonna move we put the answer on the main page

The answer is actually a two part:

If you've never done something crazy like this, this is your daily driver, or you don't have a LOT of experience with engines: NO!

If you have done this kind of thing before and this is NOT your daily driver: Feasable

If you say yes to the second one, we can go from there.

Even if it were possibly.. i just really think it'* not worth the time or the money. In all reality, with a 1993 car, you'd be better off selling the car and buying a supercharged car. Untill then, enjoy the gas mileage baby!! haha

I don't think the L27 gets better mileage than the L67 But I agree with selling the car and buying an SSEi. If you can find one. They made only 5000 or fewer each year for the US and Canada.

Default not an every day car

My 93 is almost mint as the day she was built. Never sees rain or snow. I only put 3,000 mi on per year. Shes worth alot more than you could imagine. How do I know this? Because I run a car dealership. Why put a supercharger on a regular ole SSE? Because I can. I hear that all the time. And yes I'm mechanically inclined. I do all of my own work on my vehicles. So if someone has a legitimate answer whether this can be done ,please let me know. Oh ! So why would I want to sell her? LOL

Ok. We'll start with the nasty stuff. Nobody has done it. Your trans won't take it because it doesn't have the heavy duty gears. You have no way to control boost. You still need a bunch of parts besides the SC. Some of the engine internals have been verified as the same or different, and some haven't. So basically, you're treading in unknown territory with a mint car.

Not my cup of tea. Might be yours, but that'* a big risk.

Be ready to scrounge for all new component pulleys and engine accessory brackets as well. This is just a HUGE undertaking, even if you had an SSEi sitting right next to you for comparison as you work. It just isn't worth it. You'd have a car inferior to the SSEi, and it would have an extremely limited lifesapan. Just swap in the entire drivetrain (with PCM and wiring harness), or buy an SSEi outright.
