the 96/98 will probably be closest to your configuration. Are all SE'* equipped with the 3.06 gearing?

no I dont believes so. I think that jr's3800 has a 2.93 of 2.97 in one of his SE'*.

RPO Codes
FR2 2.93
FW2 3.06
F17 2.84

Most 92-99 SE'* should have the 3.06. The buick LeSabre gets a 2.84, and the SSEi'* of that gen get the 2.97. BTW, the SLE and SSE also get the 3.06. Not REALLY sure on this, but it should be fairly accurate.

what about the ECU? Doesn't that have to know the change? and if so, I don't think you could pull that from a 3100, and expect it to work in our 3800'*.
