I'm a 17 year old proud owner of a 1996 SE
this is my first car and i bought it with my own money so i'm on a budget
i was wondering if anyone knew of any easy, low money mods that i can do to

A) make this car quicker, i need to go faster already
B) make it look good cheap!

then you can add a CAI and high flow cat

First off welcome to the family,

I agree, after getting her in good running shape, intake and exhaust is a good place to start. Maybe from there a performance PCM?
If you're on a tight budget you can start by gutting your stock air box.

A far as making it look good cheap, a good washing and waxing is all these cars need to look really good. You can do little things like getting clear front corners and some silverstar marker lights.

jack: there is no PCM for 96 bonne'* but the idea of a jet chip is floating around here somewhere, some say that sould work.

Definitely get a CAI. There are a ton of threads on here of how to make one. A fender well intake is good too but I think the 3.5" tubing is too big for at least a close to stock n/a engine. (At least thats what Hector from ADTR found out a while back)
And the best bang for you buck exhaust wise would be ported exhaust manifolds. I would tell you to go to www.hulkspeed.com but I've read alot about the new owner being flakey.. www.wbodystore.com has them too, but if you get them, e-mail them to make sure you get a rear manifold that will fit your H-body car. Except that we've heard the DHP powertuner works on the 96.

I would guess that DHP or Intense could actually reprogram a '96 PCM, as long as it'* from an L36 application. There are no engine/transaxle differences between a '96 SE and a '97 SE/SLE (like mine). If they can make one for my '97, I see no reason why they couldn't do a '96.

Note that I am not talking about an L67/SSEi.... We've already had that discussion

i am still wondering has anyone tried the w-body store DP on a bonneville. does it connect well to the cat? Or any of the other ones out on the market (texan'*, ect). Anyone out there with any answers?

No one has tried it yet. Maybe someone should??
