I raced a 1994 SuperCoupe with the 5-spd at the track with my 1999 SSEi. I had a Check Engine light, was getting KR, and was having some horrible launches. Anyhow, I managed to beat him because of my better reaction time, but his e.t. from when he started moving to when he went through the traps was a hair quicker (like .00X) than mine. Was an interesting race and he had a -%10 pulley, K&N drop-in, and some sticky tires. Was a really cool 40-something guy who was out at the track to relive his youth. He really like racing the SSEi because his T-bird had the newer more powerful 3.8 SC engine and I had the Series II L67, and then for us to run that close was really awesome for both of us.
So, in other words, the T-bird will get your Series I L67 in the 1/4, but in the 1/6 you might stand a chance depending on if they count the R/T into the final E.T., and how good of a launch he gets. If he changed his rear-end out like is a popular thing with those cars then you will be seeing his tail-lights.
Gut your stereo, pull the back seat, and any other trim and junk from the interior and trunk of your car and you might give him a good run up to 50-60 mph. Good luck.

DO NOT USE SUPERCHIPS......not only are they not built with the ignition and fuel mapping you will need for sucess, but they usually dont have the chip for youre car when push comes to shove (when I called in with my ECU code they said no dice) I suggest doing the cam and rockers porting polishing and then getting a full engine code reading and a dyno done then getting a chip from GmTuners.com You are required to have alot of information about youre engines CPU codes so be prepared. Also be prepared to tell them every aspect of youre cars mods down to the tire size. The gentleman who runs this site is VERY knowledgeble about the L67 engine and if you visit his site then you will know why! I tryed Ecmprogrammers.com and they burnt me a custom chip but it wasnt quite right and when I had my new tranny put in the codes it was throwing were funny so I put my stock chip back in. If you do get one reprogrammed make sure they change NOTHING in the tranny but the shift points (if you want that changed)

The last turbo thunderchicken was in '88, it was, if I remember correctly, a 2.4 litre turbo 4-banger on a 3800 lb car. They went to the Supercharged 3.8L Supercoupe in '89.
