Well actually the above info somewhat helps....

I 'was' running 225/55/17s on her last summer..... BFG tires...
... well actually for 2 summers....

Now I'm thinking about putting on BFG KDWs that are 225/45/17
I was worried that they would either be too small or too large.... some people think that they are larger then the 225/55/17s I had on it.... but reading the info on tirerack, it sounds like a 225/45/17 would be smaller height then the 225/55/17
55% of 225 = 123.75
45% of 225 = 101.25

Is that correct?

yes, a smaller sidewall means a smaller OD.

So 215/50/17s would be a smaller width, but larger sidewall height....
215 * 50% = 107.5

yes, they would be narrower but have a taller sidewall.

alot of us run 255/50-17 on our cars.
stock on my car was 235/55-17 and the new tires (255/50-17) have
the same diameter.

225/55/17 is recommended..235/55/17 will work too...its all relative diameters..a sidewall on a 225/55 is actually a bit shorter than that of a 235/55..just because the numbers are the same doesn't mean the size is..i worked in a tire shop and compared sizes alot when I was bored..lol

with 225/45/17'* your speedo will be off..your actually be going a couple mph'* slower than what it reads.

Thanks for the info.... my speedo isn't a problem... I have the calibration tool/thing from Intense.
The tire also comes in 235/45/17 so that might be an option too....
(no 235/(50or55)/17

Has anyone used 235/40/17s on their cars?

Just wondering if 235 is too wide.... I'm running 225 right now.

235 and 245 will clear all hardware at full lock on the steering no problem. MIGHT be getting close at 245, but nothing major.

With a little work, Gordy did 255'* on his 95.

This is for 92-99'*. Not sure about other gens. Rumor has it the 87-91 crowd have a little less room in the wells up front, but the 2000'* have a little more?
