The "BB" is there because some models use a "jiggle" valve in the T-Stat for the exact same reason we drill holes in ours!
As for disadvantages, well it does make your engine temperature heat up faster which is a great thing for gas mileage. But I can't think of ANY disadvantages right now.

going back to the beginning of this post, on my 95 it was a total PITA to get to the draincock AND i didnt want antifreeze on my nice clean engine or garage floor so i had to sit and think. DUH, the siphon hose i use to drain my supercharger oil! It took a total of 3 minutes once i thought about it. Too bad i wasted an hour trying to find and then figure out how to open the drain ****. LOL
FYI- if anyone has a fish tank with the small vaccuum rock cleaner thingy, the hose on it is a perfect fit for the supercharger hole.
