Weight reduction...

Also reduces the 'Taxi Effect' when going out with friends...

Comfy, if you get in a wreck, and your insurance finds out, they'll drop you, and not cover the accident.

All I am gonna say is ......

Less than 1 yr ago I was cruisin home, minding my own business, going 5 miles under the speed limit through a 3 way intersection, of which I had the right of way. A young lady in oncoming traffic felt it imperative that she make a left hand turn in front of me. Since my ABS wasn;t working at the time, I locked up the tires, slid to the right with every intention of missing her. Until she panicked and stepped on the gas.

The result:

Right from corner of the Bonne hits her Sunfire square in the middle of her grill (her fault). Her car crumpled. The Bonneville ....... what a tank. Thank God for that steel reinforcement. No air bag deployment(sensor in the front dead center). Due to the age, had to have a few discussions with State Farm, but they hooked me up. Oh yeah, and she did not have insurance.

The Moral:

Sometimes heavy metal is a good thing!

I agree. If you are going to take that out, only do it at the track. NOT a good idea for a daily driver.

If you're that worried about weight, throw in a 3400, go work out, or drive with 1/4 tank all the time. That beam isn't steel on my car, it'* fiberglass. Maybe you could get one of them.

You're increasing the chance of death in an accident immensely, for you, and nearly as much for those who hit you. It'* not your right to make the road less safe for others. It'* probably worse then removing your lights.

I wont crash.

I dont drive like this kid.
Doesn't matter. You can't control what other people do. Put some racing seats in if you're that concerned with weight please.

Glad to hear you think you will not get into an accident. Having been in too many myself (not my fault) I will say you are a complete idiot. I hope you are just a kid and will listen and learn from the members here.

besides all of the concerns about safety as the other members here have said, if you really are THAT worried about weight that you'd go as far as remove your bumper and airbags don't you think it'* possible you might have bought the wrong kind of car?

If you are ever in an accident and someone is injured, in your car or not, the lawyers will bend you over big time.
