Does it sound different while turning right?

You can also jack up the front of the car and grab the tire and try shaking it. If there'* play in the tire, you probably have a bad bearing. While you have it up, spin that wheel by hand to see if you can hear the noise. Sometimes, bearings can make a noise, but not have any play in them (happened to me not too long ago)

The hub and bearing are one unit on most GM cars nowadays. It does sound like a bad bearing. Jack both sides up in neutral and spin each wheel with one hand and the other hand on the coil spring. You'll be able to feel the roughness in the spring on the side where the bad bearing is.

Does the noise get worse during a hard right turn?

The ABS light could be on due to a bad wheel speed sensor. The WSS is part of the bearing/hub assembly. If your only problem was the ABS light I would suggest getting the car scanned, but since it sounds like you have a bearing problem, replacing the hub/bearing might fix both issues.

Is it possible for a bad wheel bearing to give out so much metal shavings to have an effect on the WSS, thus causing the ABS light to come on?
