Default Steering column shift ****?

I'd like to change out the stock **** on my 1999 eighty eight because its sticky and I want to personalize my 'new' car a little. How can I remove it? I tried, rather forcefully, turning counter clockwise with no luck. I'm not sure which aftermarket ***** will work depending on whether the stock **** is press fitted or screwed on. I have seen some really nice looking (not too flashy) billet ***** and original column shift ***** for some of the earlier GM cars that would look great.

Thank you, Wes

you might go to a jy and pick up a different one, and figure it out on theirs. i would imagine its splined and glued or pressed

Ok, so I went to the JY today and found out they're splined and pressed on. I have seen a few billet ***** on ebay that say they're for GM vehicles with column shifters and attach via set screw. Not sure I want to go that route as it might not be as secure as I would like. Then again, I won't be banging gears or anything so it should stay pretty tight. Will update after I get one on there. Wish me luck!
