Default rusted strut towers, dangerous?

I have an 89 delta royale and the strut towers are pretty rusted, especially on the
right side. I went to a garage and the mechanic said that if not fixed the strut will
go through the hood. I got a second opinion at the same garage and the second mechanic told me its not dangerous unless the whole tower is corroded. Mine are
35% rusted through, I am thinking that I can continue to drive it, albeit very carefully
until I can afford to fix them, what do you all think, is it safe?

The short answer is "a picture is worth a thousand words"

Other than that I couldn't really tell ya. Although with more than a third ot the tower rusted away, it doesn't sound especailly safe. What kind of driving do you do? Just don't fall into any pot holes.

my 86 has rusted towers... but it'* the seecondary sheetmetal off the front of the towers (conveniently under the air and relay box ) it'* not part of the "structural" metal of the strut but I'm still gonna fix it before I start upping the power doing the suspension and pushing the car harder.

I say get it fixed as soon as possible... but it'* not a huge risk *YET*

Im asumeing its the areas infront of the towers. Like near the battery and the air filter on the other side. Not the end of the world but just the beginning. Try to pick up a strut tower brace while you wait to get it fixed or finish off the car, which ever comes first.

I had a 80 VW Rabbit pick up that put a tower into the hood. I still drove it home.

Now theres a truck I wish I still had today. Coolest truck I ever owned. Like a sports car but I worked it like a truck and it did its job well.
