I'm actually having the same temp gauge issue with my car right now I have a 98 Oldsmobile Cutlass GLS 3.1L. It also pushes ans pulls like cruise control is on when the temp sensor zeros out. I noticed with mine it was from a pressure build up with the hoses and clamps. I just finished changing the hoses out and no more overheating and my gage is working just like it should. Maybe give that a go if your still having an issue. I'm now onto my next issue of motor mount this is going to be fun 😵‍💫
