1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass 350 V8 engine. There is something wrong with shifting and i have no clue what it is. I have a Hurst vgate inline 2 shifter. The car doesn't just rev up when u put it in any other gear. It just bogs down. Like it'* stuck in 2 gears at the same time. It'* weird. U can move the shifter, but the tranny won't get out of first. Anyone have any suggestions? The linkage is fine.

try putting the shifter in netrual, crank car let the clutch out and if the car moves forward the trans is in gear. the cause may be the shift fork may not be installed correct. the trans or at least the side cover must be removed.
