Default key programming help needed

I recently purchased a 01 Auroura. I lost the key and went to the dealer and they looked it up by the vin and cut me another key. I puut the new key it works in all the locks and ignition. When I try to start it a message come up on the driver information saying starting disabled and security fault. I called the dealership and they said the key need to programmed to the car. Does anybody have the proper process on how to do this?

put the original key in the ignition. start the car let it run for 10 - 15 seconds. shut it off and pull the key out, within a couple seconds put the new key in and start the car. let it run for 10-15 seconds shut it off the new key should be programmed

A tech2 is a device that plugs in to the cars computer and can make changes. These cost over 2 grand, so mainly only dealerships have them.
