Thank, sequential multiport fuel injection system. I was mistaken on my 96 olds cutlass ciera SL 3.1(3100). That lower gasket is something I'm not wanting to do, and gel-pro 2nd design is the only way. I was going to also get the engine gasket kit & being so deep I was going replace everything above the lower man.. Ill upload a pic of the leak I have cause it may only be the oil pump O ring. Cause I'm greatful for your info & advice.
If your oil pump drive o-ring it original, it will have turned to carbon by now too. Ours completely broke up when I removed it during the lower intake manifold job.
It should be noted that the o-ring can be changed on some with only the upper intake manifold removed, depending on how 'clean' the casting of the lower intake.
The Ciera was the quintessential midsize commodity car of the '80s and '90s They are anything but rare because GM built them in vast numbers, not just Cieras but Pontiac 6000s, Chevy Celebrities and Buick Centuries as well. The A bodies were the darlings of corporate, government and rental fleets, as they hit a sweet spot between size, cost and fuel economy. They weren't exciting cars but they filled their role as a utilitarian bread-and-butter car quite well. 'The State of North Carolina bought tons of Ciera sedans and wagons in the first half of the '90s. The State Motor Pool wrote specs in the '80s to favor the Chevy Celebrity for its midsize vehicles and Olds was easily able to step in and pick up the contract when the Celebrity was dropped from production. They had a nice run for several years until the bid specs were finally rewritten to favor the Ford Taurus.
