there is a dowel pin that goes into the trans off the block..or the other way around IDR..may be your issue

When I overhauled my engine, it got lifted out at about 3 AM, when I was running on purely adrenaline and Coors Light. My memory'* a little fuzzy, but I'll try to help.

It sounds like you've disconnected the transaxle, downpipe, engine mounts, and hopefully the bolts inside the flywheel (some people forget those). That should be everything. If so, jack up the engine lift until the chains attached to the engine go taut. Then, give a good push on the driver'* side of the engine, and it'll come free from the transaxle.

Also worth mentioning, once the engine is on the stand, it'* also a good time to spin your torque converter by hand and check for unwanted bearing noise. (Hopefully you can grab an extra if it'* loud... I couldn't.)

The spin is usually done to ensure the converter is fully on the stator sprocket and located in the proper place. If it'* forward and coming off the sprocket you would bind it up and have to take the motor back out to fix it.

nope not yet , im going out now and give it a try

well it still refuses to come out, ive got it moved over almost enough, the front has moved over with out to much trouble but the back of the engine where it meets the tranny it has been a pain and hasent really moved at all. so is there a bolt back there im missing ? ive got five out from where it meets the tranny and got the three out from the flywheel

In total there are only 5 trans bolts. 4 from the driver side and one backwards from teh passenger side.

You had to take the diff to engine bracket off, it'* right behind the ps pump. Tough to miss.

Then there'* the exhaust, electrical (items to note: ground by oil filter adapter, and rear knock sensor, oil level sensor...sometimes missed) The AC and ps pumps should be laying on the frame. You got the three TC bolts and starter. Add in the coolant hoses and the ... body side of the torque axis mount (big mount in front of water pump)

one other thing.. put a light amount of holding pressure on it with the hoist and push them apart. If you make it taunt light previously suggested, it'll be tough.
