Default Cooling fans

I have a '95 Cutlass Supreme convertible 3.4 DOHC with 53000 miles. When I start the car from cold, the radiator fan turn on, and stays on for 60 seconds or so, then goes off. Otherwise it cools as normal. Is this typical of this car?

I don't have an OBD1 scanner. May have to get one. I have a 16 pin connector, with only three pins in it.
