Default Codes 18 and 42

1993 Olds 88 3800 series I will start but, runs eratically and acts as if it wants to stall. Throwing codes 18 and 42. My question is, if the crankshaft position sensor is bad, would the car run at all?

I also just recently changed the ICM. Car was running bad before this but would not start at all. Is it possible I am throwing those codes because the ICM was bad?

Or, could I have bad plug wires causing those codes?

Not sure where to start.

if either the crank or cam sensor is good it will run. bad plug wires caused it once on here that i can think of but i have to guess its not very common. did you unhook the battery and see if the codes come back? how old are the wires?

Thanks for your reply. I did not unhook the battery and recheck codes. Either way, it still runs crappy.

Will it run at all with bad crank or cam sensor?

i think i am getting my engines mixed up to be honest, i think on this one the cam sensor you can loose and it will batch fire the injectors and run but wont likely run great and you would get a code for it. if the crank sensor goes on this you would have no spark. or you would have spark cold and not warm
